Experience the Arts in Brown County
WEAR YOUR ART! Create and Personalize a Beaded Fiber Necklace is the theme of a three day needleweaving experience, part of a new arts program being launched in 2011—Experience the Arts in Brown County.
A special experience deserves a special rate. $100 covers all three days, including supplies. The three part workshop, held June 27th, June 29th and July 1st, will cover basic needleweaving techniques and design. Participants will leave with a finished necklace that's truly unique!

Gather a group of friends and fiber artists. We'll bring the workshop to you. Comfortable seating, and a small area for supplies, are all that's needed for each participant.

What You'll Learn . . .
Workshops are available for all skill levels. Initial classes teach basic needleweaving techniques. Building upon what you've learned, intermediate workshops introduce pattern design. Advanced classes apply these techniques in new ways.
Beginning NeedleweavingLearn Basic Techniques
Working from kits, students will learn about:
- Color theory—complements and contrast
- How to string a 'loom' for a simple necklace
- Weaving techniques—incorporating beads, changing colors
- Finishing techniques—clasps & closures
Fee $55. Class size limit: 10 participants. Bring a friend and receive $5 off class fee!
Workshop fees include materials kit and instruction sheets to make one necklace. Workshop lasts 7 hours, including a one hour break for lunch (price of meal not included).

Intermediate NeedleweavingCreate a Custom Pattern
Students will create a symmetrical necklace pattern and learn more about:
- Balance and form—symmetry v.s. asymmetry
- Color arrangement and bead placement
- Weaving techniques—letting colors 'flow'
- Alternate finishing techniques—clasps & closures
Fee $45. Class size limit: 10 participants. Bring a friend and receive $5 off class fee!
Workshop fees include pattern making supplies and handouts. Workshop lasts 7 hours, including a one hour break for lunch (price of meal not included).

Advanced NeedleweavingFrom Inspiration to Art
Use your needleweaving skills in new ways
- Explore asymmetry and free form weaving techniques
- String a horizontal 'loom'
- Incorporate wire to create dimension
- Learn about wall hangings, framed art and brooches
Fee $45. Class size limit: 10 participants. Bring a friend and receive $5 off class fee!
Workshop fees include a selection of fibers and beads, plus handouts on techniques. Students will begin a freeform design. Workshop lasts 7 hours, including a one hour break for lunch (price of meal not included).
