Living in an area known for its natural beauty, Davie Kean finds ongoing inspiration for her woven necklaces and other fiber creations.
Southern Indiana’s seasons are her template—each different, yet connected. This sense of connectivity is a theme woven throughout her varied work.
Ideas for Ms. Kean's needleweaving often arise while on hikes in the woods near her home. Like pages from a field guide, each piece is an interpretation with a story behind it. Translated into woven form, nature’s objects, colors and shapes become Wearable Art.
Nature provides a starting point, but the abundant fiber and bead resources now available offer creative direction as well. Capturing inspiration from both natural and commercial sources, the artist transforms ideas into wearable reminders of what is good in both nature and human nature.
